  • Askö Laboratory – a centre for marine research

Askö Laboratory is located on the beautiful island of Askö in the archipelago south of Stockholm. The field station is a national resource, open to any scientist with an interest to study the Baltic Sea or to conduct environmental monitoring. There are also possibilities to arrange university courses or host conferences and meetings.

Keep updated and get the most out of your Askö stay!

Now you can keep in touch with us, and discuss things with other Askö-users on our page on Facebook. The newly renovated sauna is surely worth a visit. And a wireless network is available, just use your Eduroam account.

Indispensable people

The Askö staff can help out with almost everything. Not only do they do all maintenance, drive the boats and manoeuver marine equipment on research missions, they also plan and arrange your stay in the best possible way!

Tip before your trip

Don’t forget to inform yourself before you leave for Askö! There is no shop, so you have to bring everything you need. In the winter it could be a bit empty, and during summertime it can get a little crowded.

Welcome to apply online!

Book you stay at the fieldstation, apply for the “Askö grant” or arrange time on the vessels through our booking service.

Track our vessels!

Track our vessels when they are on research missions or transporting people. Go to Marine Traffic and locate Askö to find Aurelia and Limanda. You can also search for the vessels by their names, and find them while they are out on the sea!
